Club history

Team "Builder" Kuybyshev was established in 1976. The initiator of the team creation was the renowned USSR coach, Primatov Genrikh Alekseevich, who was in charge of the team until the last day of his life. "Builder" acted in the championship of Russia and repeatedly went to the highest league of the USSR championship.

In 1986 -1988 the team was led by Nikolai Sutolkin (1986/87 season) and Yuri Perminov (1987/88 season).

From 1988 to 1994 “Builder” headed the Honored Coach of the USSR Zozulin SA, who over the years of his work created a young and efficient team, and repeatedly led the team to the top places.

Since 1995, “Builder” changed its name to BC “Samara” and from that moment a new stage of development began. For two years, “Samara” from the outsider of the Russian Super League entered the first positions of the Russian basketball.

In 1998, the Foundation for Development of BC Samara was established. The governor of the Samara region, Titov Konstantin Alekseevich, who makes a great contribution to the development of basketball in the region, became the president of the fund.

And yet the main milestone in the development of the club is 1996, when the famous businessman Avetisyan Vladimir Evgenievich became the president of the club, whose contribution cannot be overestimated. From 1996 to 2002 The main sponsors of the club were organizations belonging to the Volgopromgaz holding headed by V.Ye. Avetisyan: it is Gazbank, Srednevolzhskaya Gas Company, Samara-Asko, and Solidarity Bank and other organizations of the region took part in providing financial assistance.

Since 2003, the club has focused on the development of youth directions. Teams of different ages have repeatedly become champions of the region and have repeatedly participated in the zonal and final stages of the national championships. Pupils of our club were repeatedly involved in the national teams of different ages.

From July 26 to August 7, 2011 Parenting Club: Andrey Konstantinov, Sergey Pogosyan, Kirill Zakharchuk, Sergey Polukhin, Dmitry Karmaksky, Andrey Grachev, under the guidance of Honored USSR Coach Zozulin SA and honored master of sports, world vice-champion Gracheva II in the European Championship in Macedonia, as part of the Armenian national team, they won the 6th place out of 23 teams, showing the highest result (as the Armenian national team won no international meetings in international competitions). This result was achieved thanks to the professional work of the coaching tandem.

In September 2011 team "Samara" 1995.r. for the first time became a member of the EYBL (European Youth Basketball League), it became a new page in the development of children's and youth directions.

Currently, more than 100 basketball players regularly train under the guidance of the BC Samara coaches.
